Chocolate Yule Log Cake

Ingredients:

  • 100g of dark chocolate
  • 3 eggs
  • 75g of granulated sugar
  • 75g of all-purpose flour
  • 30g of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 50g of butter
  • 200ml of heavy cream
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • mixing bowl
  • baking tray
  • oven
  • spatula
  • whisk

Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Gently fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture.
  • Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, and gently mix until no flour is visible.
  • Pour the batter into a lined baking tray, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes.
  • While the cake is baking, whip the heavy cream with vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  • Once the cake is done, remove it and let it cool on a wire rack.
  • Once cooled, spread the whipped cream over the cake and roll it gently into a log shape.
  • Dust with cocoa powder or decorate as desired before serving.
